After dropping the opening game of the year the Pella Christian Eagles have bounced back to win two in a row.
The Eagles beat Des Moines Christian in softball 11-4 May 24 and won at S.E. Warren 8-2 May 30.
In the win over the S.E. Warren Warhawks the Eagles led 5-2 entering the seventh when they tallied three more runs to put icing on the cake to cement the win.Ivy Terpstra and Chloe Morgan each had three hits for the Eagles.
Natalie Harrill and Danielle Vande Voort each popped in for two hits each.
Harrill, Terpstra and Morgan each had one double in the game. RBI leaders were Vande Voort and Emerson Sarver each with two.
Cheyanne Collins was the winning pitcher as she worked 5.1 innings and allowed nine hits and two runs. Collins had three strikeouts and walked nobody.
Vande Voort finished the pitching duties and didn’t allow a hit.
The 11-4 win over the Des Moines Christian Lions came at home with Collins again earning the win with relief help from Vande Voort.
All four runs scored with Collins pitching in her 4.1 innings of work.
PC Coach Karen Harrill saw her team erupt for 14 big hits. Morgan had three hits, Harrill, Sierra Pleima, Terpstra and Collins all had two hits.
One of the hits by Collins was a home run as she was one of four PC players with two RBI. The others were Harrill, Pleima and Sydney Nunnikhoven.
Odds and Ends
The Eagles have a youth movement in place as only two PC seniors played in the game.
