At Lynnville-Sully Saturday, May 25, the Pella High Lady Dutch doubled their pleasure and doubled their fun by sweeping past the hometown L-S Hawks 8-2 and by topping North Polk, ranked No. 11 in Class 3A 7-3.
The L-S Hawks were ranked No. 14 in Class 1A, but it was all Pella as the Dutch jumped to a quick 5-0 lead after two innings of play.
Ally Almond was 3-of-4 at the plate and drove in three runs for Pella.
Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp and Maddy Rempe each added two hits.
Maddy Parks ripped a triple while Ella Corbin, Van Dusseldorp and Almond each had one double in the win.
Parks worked six innings in the circle for the win twirling a 5-hitter, fanning six and walking three.
Against the Comets Pella again started fast with a six-run second inning and they coasted from there.
Parks led the Dutch 8-hit parade with three hits, one being a double and she stole three bases.
Courtney Thompson and Almond each added two hits while Rempe had the other hit for the Dutch.
Almond was the winning pitcher as she worked five innings giving up three hits and three runs.
